Downriver swim! Sprint and Olympic open water road triathlons on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Green River, Utah.

 About the Event

The word is out: The River Rampage has the fastest triathlon mile swim anywhere and feedback from last year’s race was tremendous! Last year’s river flow? 6MPH! For 2012 we’re offering a sprint distance bike and run in addition to the Olympic distance bike/run. The River Rampage Triathlon is closer than Burley, ID, within minutes of Moab and Arches National Park, plentiful lodging and camping, a great local vibe and who can resist the chance to win a famous Green River Melon! Come and enjoy an amazing bike ride along the river at the base of the Book Cliffs Mountains. The amazing Green River State Park is the site for both the transition area and finish line, so no two transition area hassle!

 Course Details

Swim

1 mile DOWNRIVER!!! This will be a straight shot, no buoys to turn around, etc. As you approach the boat ramp to exit the water you will be swimming/floating along fairway # 5 of the Green River State Park Golf Course, a perfect location for every spectator to see their athlete swim! The water is not swift but with a current you will get your best 1 mile swim time ever! If you happen to overshoot the ramp because you are enjoying the swim/float, or because you are going so fast you don’t realize you are already there, no worries. You have fairway #4 to correct the error and get back on track!

Bike

We are keeping you close to everything green (trees, fields, and the Green River) as you bike out and back along the east side of the river for a total of 25 miles. The last few miles will take you on a short tour of the west side of town and then finish right back where you started, at Green River State Park!

Run

This is a flat run on grass and under trees as you circle the perimeter of Green River State Park Golf Course. On your final mile of the run you will loop through the campground and complete the run along the river on fairway #4 leading back to the boat ramp, transition area, and finish line!

USAT

For general questions regarding USAT insurance, rules, regulations and membership click on the following link: http://www.usatriathlon.org/.

What Athletes Need to Know About Insurance Coverage: When an athlete purchases an annual USAT license or one-day permit, a portion of those fees goes to cover the cost to provide them with excess medical insurance. This coverage only extends to their participation in a USA Triathlon sanctioned event.
