Jordanelle Triathlon Wrap-up

Jordanelle Triathletes,
We want to thank you for racing at the 11th Annual Jordanelle Triathlon on Saturday. Special congratulations go to the ~225 athletes whose race yesterday was their first triathlon EVER! We hope that TriUtah met your expectations for a great first triathlon experience.
A special thanks goes to all of our sponsors, volunteers, Jordanelle State Park, Utah Highway Patrol and Summit County Sheriff, Utah Homeland Security Dive Team, Coast Guard Auxiliary, and all other groups and organizations who contributed to the success of yesterday’s event.
Also thanks to all of the spectators for the support of their athletes and respect for the Rock Cliff area. There were over 550 spectators on Saturday, and we appreciate your support of the Jordanelle Triathlon and Utah State Parks.
Finally, we want to thank our amazing TriUtah race staff. After setting up the run course on Friday evening, the course was sabotaged sometime between late Friday night and early Saturday morning with signs moved and caution tape tampered with to send you off-course. Special thanks to our run coordinator, Rich Littlewood, who checked and re-checked the course in the early hours of Saturday morning to keep you headed the right direction!
A few housecleaning items:
1. Wetsuit mix-up: If you were racked near athlete #326 (M35-39) in the transition area, please check that you went home with the correct wetsuit. The missing suit is a Blue Seventy brand fullsuit, and #326 has your wetsuit. Please contact us (info@triutah.com) and we will get the two of you in contact for the switch.
2. The athlete who was taken to the hospital via ambulance following her finish due to overexertion is reported to be doing well by her husband. Many thanks to those of you who expressed your concern.
3. Results: Visit http://www.milliseconds.com for online 2009 Jordanelle Triathlon results. If you have any questions regarding the results, contact Milliseconds directly using their contact form on their website.
4. Race Photos: Zazoosh Photography will have photos from the Jordanelle Triathlon posted early this week. Visit the Jordanelle Tri page on http://www.zazoosh.com/events/229 to preview and order your pictures.
5. Fliers on vehicles in Francis: Thanks to those of you who alerted us to the flier on your car in the parking area in Francis. TriUtah had no prior knowledge regarding the fliers on your windshield, and they were for an event that IS NOT organized by TriUtah. We will be contacting Francis Town Hall to prevent this type of action in the future. Many thanks to those who helped clean up the discarded fliers after the event.
Lastly, we value your input! Each year we make improvements to the Jordanelle Triathlon based on athlete feedback. We think this is just one of the reasons that the Jordanelle Triathlon was voted by Triathlete Magazine as one of the Top 100 triathlons in the U.S. For example, some of the additions in 2009 were increased coning along the 1/2 mile between the transition area and the bridge for improved access for spectators, coning to the shoulder of Hwy 32 on the run course for added athlete safety, and the new location for bus drop-off and pick-up located inside the park near the Nature Center for improved spectator accessibility.
As we begin planning for 2010, and while Saturday’s event is fresh on your mind, we want to hear from you! We always want to hear about what you liked about the event, as well as what you thought could be improved. If you suggest an improvement, we love it when you also include your ideas on a solution! Please send your post-race comments to info@triutah.com
We hope to see you again at the Jack & Jill Open Water Triathlons on Sept. 11th and 12th for the All Men’s Tri, Kids’ Tri, and All Women’s Tri. The race page with all of the information (including a photo of the waterski lake!) is now posted on the TriUtah website at http://www.triutah.com
Keep training!
